African Americans make up 11% of the total U.S. workforce but only 8% of STEM professionals, highlighting a persistent underrepresentation in science and technology fields. Research from the National Science Foundation (NSF) reveals that while Black students demonstrate strong talent for STEM careers, they often lack exposure to viable career pathways, limiting their opportunities for entry and advancement in STEM industries.
Black ’N Bio is designed to bridge these gaps by providing career exposure, professional development, and skill-building resources to undergraduate students and early-career professionals. Through targeted presentations and workshops, participants will gain insights into high-demand STEM and health careers, along with strategies for acquiring the necessary credentials, certifications, and professional networks to increase their hiring eligibility.
